My 1976 El Camino Classic

The Camino

I've had this el camino since 2000. I'll fill in the details here and update what I do as I go along. I don't claim to be an expert on any of the things I have done or want to do, I'm just having fun and trying not to spend too much money.

The Rack

Hi

I built that rack as my senior project in high school metal shop in 2000. I bought the shell tube at a surplus store on Sunnyside Road in Damascus, OR. I've only seen one other rack on an El Camino...and it sucked! I thought it was a unique idea at the time, but I guess not. I'd love to see pics of other elky racks. As of this month (10/02) I don't have the rack on anymore, it is sitting in my backyard. It's good to know that I can put it back on easily if needed in about 10 mins. 04/18/04 Ok, I'm done with the rack. I'm getting to the point where I can afford to do stuff, and eventually the car will be too nice to have that ugly rack on it. I'm going to sell it or give it away soon. Anyone interested?

New Pictures...When it isn't rainy I drive around with the old bench seat in the back. Eventually I will get seatbelts for it and bolt it down so people can actually ride back there. I also painted the nose a metallic black color, and tinted the headlights, and all 4 side markers. The paint is only temporary until I get the whole car repainted.

What's Next?

These are just a few things I plan on doing, as soon as I can afford it:

*Coming Soon...*

These are a few projects that are currently in progress, some of them are done. I will write more about them when the pictures are developed.
